Students Taking ChargePowered by Action for Healthy Kids

Act

The projects in this section give you step-by-step plans for tackling a single nutrition or physical activity issue in your school.  Do you need more PE electives?  Are you hungry for a fresh fruit and vegetable bar?  Do you want to encourage student groups to think outside the candy bar sale?  Just browse through the projects to find one that fits your school, add people power, and GO!  Each project is flexible so you can adapt it to your school, your STC group, your timeline, and your ideas.  You can even rename the project so that it's connected to your high school, district, or mascot.

Don't see a project you like?  No worries!  Use this format to design your own.

Write it up, do it, and share it with other schools across the country on this website.  Check out the Students Taking Charge facilitator's guide for more information on how to select a project for your school.  There are brainstorming activities that you can do with your friends to figure out what actions you need to take, develop short and long-term goals, and create an action plan that works for your school.

Once you have your project ready to go, spend some time with the communications templates so that you can speak about it, write about it, blog about it, and talk about it to get support for what you want to do.  Speaking out to key people in the school and the community is a huge part of having a successful plan.

Let's go!
