Beyond Dodge Ball: Reinvent PE for your high school!

STC students in Kentucky run a 5K

High school students across the country are voicing the need to expand elective choices for PE class. This is the time to try lots of activities and decide what inspires you: rock climbing, ultimate Frisbee, archery, yoga, dance, weight training, orienteering...?

Where to begin? Students Taking Charge groups are working with their PE teachers to increase activity choices and seek student input through in class surveys. Working with outside community organizations and volunteers, equipment and guest instruction time is often donated.  Student leaders also gather information about community organizations that offer these activities so students can expand their activity interests outside of school (e.g. local rock climbing wall, kayaking clubs, yoga studios) and promote them on the PE bulletin boards and in the locker rooms.

What new activities do you want for your PE class?
